How long now?

Have not been out riding anywhere except work. Why? I lost the only key i had for the CBR500 about a month ago.

Was initially quoted $300 for three keys to be made by a mobile locksmith. Unfortunately, the Honda HISS system that prevents my bike from being stolen also means a large outlay for a replacement coded key 🙁

I didn’t want to quote on insurance but after two weeks of calling Ipswich Police and scouring the Ipswich FB pages for a found key, Mr called the locksmith to replace it.

When he was quoted $700 + labour + transport to the key place. I decided to go with the insurance excess option for $400. Not ideal but by far the cheapest upfront.

Bike was collected 2 Friday’s ago and been waiting ever since. They have to await parts, last update the cost was heading for $1300 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ so the $400 excess does not see as bad now.

Soooooo in the meantime I have been riding the GSXR1000. Oh. My. Lord. I love this bike. Do I think I will ever get used to the power? No. Do I think I will ever be able to control myself with that power? Also no.

I’ve had a few little races on it 😂😂😂 blitzed a Z1000 and an MT10. Pissed off many cars and shown a handful of LAMS bikes who the big girl is. But alas, I don’t want to go on any rides and push my luck. It’s not my time yet and I eagerly look forward to having Lil Boop back under me soon!

Funny story: I told Mr that I have never seen anyone from work while I’ve been commuting. He had actually called the previous owner to ask if he had another key there (he didn’t) which would have been easier and cheaper to clone than get a whole new set.

The funny part is the previous owners wife answered the phone and said her husband who is a truck driver sees me all the time in the mornings going to work. How strange! Sadly the previous owner has upgraded to bigger bike but crashed it and wasn’t allowed to get another one so he had to watch me tearing around on his old bike.

Awwww it kinda makes me smile to think he is seeing his old bike even though I have no idea who he is or what truck he is in watching me! I know I will be slightly sad when the time comes to move to G-Force permanently. Despite being on a faster much more powerful litre bike the fun and learning on my first motorcycle love is not forgotten.

Suggested uses for Little Boop when I move to the GSXR exclusively. 1. Paint in mermaid colours for a bit of a hoot. 2. Keep as a commuter for Mr & I to keep the kms down on our GSXRs. 3. Sell it and cry 😢 4. Turn it into a project bike.

The cost of rego, tyres, insurance, etc on it would probably lead me to sell. The kms are a bit high now 60k+. There are more than a couple of scrapes. Now that I’ve been riding G-Force for nearly a month it might not be ‘enough’ for me even as a commuter.

TBC I’m in no hurry to decide.
