How you like them apples?

Left home at the spritely hour of 3.30am. Why? Why indeed lol.

Thought it’s been a while since we went to Byron Bay Lighthouse for sunrise. Approx 2 hours from our house around 6am hence the early departure to beat the sun and sufficient time to climb the hill / get setup for photo ops unlimited 😬. Went down the M1, icicle tits all the way 🥶 what happened to our 30° days???

Arrived in good time. Parked next to a campervan. The lower gate is locked so have to trudge up the walkway to the viewing area. Have been up to the lighthouse itself a couple of times already so elected to (lazy) half walk to a decent view.

After may selfies and photos of the horizon at various stages of ‘lit’ we headed back down. Could see from a distance a car had parked in front of us (pic below) grrrrr. We could still get out just an arsehole thing to do.

Most likely scenario: arrived too late to secure a carpark. Did as they pleased with no regard for others or the law. Coming towards us a couple said “don’t worry they were already ticketed by the parking warden who visits at 6am every day”. Ahhh sweet, sweet karma.

I don’t think there will be a repeat performance LOL. And yes it did make my morning not gonna lie. I never said I was a good person 😂

Came home the scenic route via Lismore, Kyogle, Mt Lindesay, Beaudesert. Lovely drive ruined by over cautious speed limits and multiple slow zones – 40km/hr school zones where the school is not on the main road, overly extended 40km/hr roadworks zones miles before the workmen even were, many small settlements with ridiculous lengthy speed limit of 80 where 100 would have been fine and is fine in similar areas.

Still a great ride but what a shame.

Parked on the side of the road to take some pics of Mt Lindesay, something I have wanted to do the last 2 times I went that way! Beautiful back drop for our beautiful girls.

I have to pinch myself constantly. This is my every day bike now. Mine, all mine. To ride and love until my woosy shoulders pack it in hahahaha. Plenty of stops needed on long rides.

Dragged our asses home tired and by this point the 33° QLD heat was back in action. Ai yi yi but so bloody worth it.

Would I recommend? Yes. Are there other towns/roads to do around there? Yes – Lions Rd, detour to Mooball to see the big motorbike and ride the Murwillumbah passing lane, stoner town Nimbin and for the truly committed a bit of a sideways to Woodenbong / Queen Mary Falls if so desired or scoot to the Natural Bridge when coming back Gold Coast way.

Another epic day out on the bikes. Going back to work next week is gonna suck big, hairy, sweaty, unwashed balls 😫😫😫
