How fucking far???

Soggy weekend ride from Brisbane > Beaudesert > Mt Lindesay > Kyogle > Casino > Grafton > Dorrigo > Bellingen over the weekend.

Early 5am start to get ready and arrive at the pre-meet by 6.45am. Onto starting point Beaudesert for 7.30 (that turned out to be 8am due to a forgotten bag by someone).

Anddddd we’re off. Made average time for the first lil bit and sure enough 20 mins in I feel a pain in my left side. Trying to ride along with one hand on throttle and one hand pressed against my abdomen to apply pressure / relieve pain is not fun going over Mt Lindesay.

If there was anywhere to stop I would have. Soldiered on and felt like I wanted to pass out or throw up. Finally pulled over at Dairy Flat to assess the spew probability … had some deep breaths and carried on. Poor old Tail End Charlie thought I might keel over but I promised to make it to Kyogle without dying πŸ˜‚

Stopped for refuel and have some meds at Kyogle. Looked like absolute trash even more than usual. Had a yummy bakery stop in the middle of town before pushing on for lunch date at Grafton.

Reached Grafton with approximate average speed of 150-160km/hr πŸ‘€ ssshhhh ok just ssshhhh I know! Actually fabulous pub lunch at Blue Goose Hotel and refuelled again for final leg to Bellingen.

Rained nearly the whole time but had my trusty Dri Rider jacket. Rain pants I bought last minute had a low low crotch so couldn’t get my leg over the bike so #abandoned on the garage floor 😫 hello moist vagina

Got separated from the group when I saw two people who I thought MIGHT be with our group and possibly the corner markers. I stopped and before I could even say anything got a head shake and waved straight ahead by the pillion. Ok then.

Fair blasted for several kilometres until I realised hmmm maybe I was meant to go left???? Carried on anyway fuck it will find the next turn off lol. Saw a sign for Dorrigo and waited ten mins to see if TEC turned up. Nope, ok we ride alone this next bit to meet the group.

Get to the intersection at Dorrigo here is the group waving me down hahaha pfftt not lost what are ya talking about. Aforementioned corner marker said ‘we were marking the corner’ well when I got there was two people on their phones not watching and I didn’t get a chance to stop and make sure this was my turn as I was waved on. No matter, I made it πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Refuelled again at Dorrigo. Soaked to buggery on Waterfall Way heading to Bellingen. Last 10-15kms lots of windy road with diesel and sand everywhere, rain pissing down so much by now everywhere had visors up (still couldn’t see).

Have never been so happy to reach the destination. After a change of clothes straight to the restaurant for dinner and drinks. The big fireplace was a bonus, dried my boots for a bit there before using the motel hairdryer on them back in the room. The motel service was outstanding. They let us use their dryers and washers that I assume linen gets washed/dried in.

The staff were fantastic so accommodating, friendly and the food was amazing. Wish I had went with the pork belly as my table neighbour got that and it was MASSIVE. Yum.

Next morning still slightly damp everywhere but back into the rain we headed, up over the range to Ebor Falls. I didn’t end up going as I was too cold and wanted to come back with old mate to see the sights when it was less rainy!

Rained until about Kyogle where I said hooray to the rest of the group going down Lions Rd and I was heading straight home.

Really thought my body would be fucking toasted but I wasn’t too bad. Had some deep heat rubbed on my shoulders once I was home and a deep, deep sleep that night.

Yeah it rained. Yeah we all got wet. Yeah I went slow on the corners due to rain. But for the laughs and the adventure I wouldn’t have missed it. Being able to spend quality time with your riding mates is one of the best things ever. I’m not really built for long distance riding LOL but I did okay.

Only one broken mirror and couple of new scrapes to show for it. Around 900kms round trip in a weekend, I’ve definitely had less entertaining weekends than this!

Highly recommend anyone make this ride. Bit of everything … flat out speeds, windy, rough, even some bush fires still smoking along the way. Decent stops and travel time between. Excellent food the whole time, cannot fault.

Helps having a great group of people. I didn’t know most of them but oh well such is the biker community you soon find something to chat about 😝
